Faced with the extreme requirements of 5G communication on the performance of high-frequency and high-speed materials, Hubei Jinzhongde Technology Machinery Equipment Co., Ltd. officially signed a cooperation agreement with Ningbo Institute of Engineering Materials, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 2017, to jointly build a joint research platform, focus on the national substitution and performance breakthrough of next-generation communication materials, and jointly develop the key material technology of "LCP-5G film". This achievement has been granted a national utility model patent in 2022, with patent number CN202221065173.8.
LCP (Liquid Crystal Polymer) is widely recognized as one of the most promising high-end thin film materials in 5G RF communication due to its low dielectric constant, low dielectric loss, high heat resistance, and excellent dimensional stability. However, the film-forming process of this type of material is complex, requires high stability, and relies on foreign imports for a long time. Jin Zhongde, in collaboration with the Ningbo Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, based on practical industrial application needs, has carried out research and development in key areas such as material formula design, molding process control, and surface treatment processes. Ultimately, they have successfully achieved domestic trial production and stable small-scale production of LCP films.
The research and development site of this project is located in Ningbo, China. The material system theory guidance and performance testing platform are provided by the Ningbo Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Jin Zhongde is responsible for equipment docking and practical application implementation, forming a closed-loop innovation path from basic research to experimental verification, equipment matching, and achievement transformation.
The achievements of the LCP-5G thin film project signify that China has broken through some bottlenecks in the field of high-frequency and high-speed communication materials, providing domestic equipment manufacturers with high-performance and low-cost localized material choices, and promoting the overall improvement of the localization level of 5G infrastructure.
